First of all, here is my pink cow for October. I bet you never thought you'd see a pink cow with the world on her hide. Oh, the magic of photo shop. I didn't create the cow, I just tinted it PINK! Let's all support breast cancer awareness this month by posting something pink every day!

My contribution for Vintage Thingie Thursday is a piece of sculpture I bought for my mother when I was a young girl. I was away from home on a church trip, and my mother had given me some spending money for the trip. I found this piece of pottery and I just wanted my mother to have it so bad. So I spent all my money. When Mom moved back to the farm several years ago, she insisted I have it for my home. I appreciate her thoughtfulness. She displayed it all this time, and now I carry on the tradition. I have included a picture of my mom in her classroom in 1962. She retired from teaching school in 1984, after 38 years. There is also a picture of me around that time as well. Here's hoping you all have an exceptionally wonderful Vintage Thingie Thursday!

The old photos are awesome! Great treasures to keep and the praying hands are certainly good reminders to us.
Oh how I remember these things you could paint or buy at camps, etc. I'm amazed it survived all these years. The photos are fabulous!!

That's such a nice item to have, with the great memory attached. I never would have spent all my spending money on someone else at that age, that's what makes it extra special to your mom.
My hubby has ceramic praying hands like these. I think they are so nice. What a nice emotional connection you have to them.

I love the photos ... I wish I had photos of my mum teaching, although she didn't teach after I was born. It's special to have something she had with her all those years.
Those are great. I think I remember buying something similar for my mom at a church camp. I don't think mine survived over the years. It is great that yours did.

My great grandma was a schoolteacher and some of my favorite pictures of her are the ones in the classroom with her students. I love these old photos of yours.
