Hope this Thursday finds everyone well and happy. If you want to join the Vintage Thingie Thursday fun just click on the button and you'll be magically carried to "Confessions of an Apron Queen." She's our most excellent host for this event. Don't be shy, but don't go until you've visited me for a few minutes. I'm so glad to get to share my blog with you. Also, I have included a sweet picture of my grand daugher, Abigail, with my pink hairbrush for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am sure you all join me in hoping breast cancer will be a thing of the past before she ever has to worry about it.
Now here's my feature presentation for Vintage Thingie Thursday.
It's a cupboard from back when cabinets were not built into kitchens. ( I'll guess it's from the early 1900's.) My parents gave it to my husband Bob when they sold their house in Florida several years ago.
Here it is with the top opened up. You can see we store mostly DVD's in there. It has a flour sifter in the left side. I'll bet it still works, but I've never tried it. It's in our TV room over by the bathroom door. In this picture you can see a picture of our grandson Connor when he was four years old. The photographer was doing a photo shoot at an old school house. She asked Connor to play in the dirt and stand on the porch with the baseball and bat. The picture won awards and hung in our mall for a while. Of course, Grandma Faith had to have a copy. I think it looks wonderful over by the antique cupboard.

Oh, yes, I do love it....but the BESTEST thing you posted today is that fabulous little boy on the porch. I sure can see why it won awards!!

My mama never had furniture of her own; she always had whatever anyone gave her, and we had one of these in the kitchen. She didn't use the flour sifter, either, but she used the cupboard for storage.
Hi Gma, I like your cupboard. I am glad yours has its flour sifter still.
On the Ruby Red Tu, did your buddy get a red nose when his nose went in? I hope you had a happy RR!
Thank you for your visit to my GUM Dept Store and for your nice comment. I am so sorry I just came here, I am running very late and may never catch up.

That is a beautiful cupboard!! The photo of your grand daughter and grandson are both great, too!!
Faith, I think your cupboard is called a "Hoosier" and it is pretty valuable, especially since you still have the flour sifter and the original pull out table-top. It's gorgeous; you might want to do some research on it.
I adore your gorgeous kitchen cupboard...how quaint to have a flour sifter inside, never seen one like that before.
That is so cool that it still has a flour sifter in it!!! I love seeing remnants from the past that are still with us.
Really beautiful cupboard. The pictures are very sweet too :)
Wow what a cupboard and in terrific
shape, someone really cared for it
well! What a wonderful photo, nothing
like a youngster captured in time!
Adorable!
what a wonderful piece of furniture!
The cupboard is wonderful, but the children? Even better. Great post.
The cabinet is just a dream. What a great piece of furniture....and that sweet little boy is just as cute as he can be....looking all tough on the porch. Cute post.
Beautiful cupboard-I love the pull out table and flour sifter. The wood color is lovely...so are the grandkids!
I never saw a flour-sifter in a cupboard before! But what a beautiful piece of furniture to have. So versatile for storing anything these days, as opposed to when it was made and life was more clutter-free!
I love your cupboard. It's beautiful.
I just looove that cupboard! I so wish I could find something like that for my kitchen.
That is gorgeous! Is the flat part marble?
A thing of beauty! And the pic of your grandson? Adorable!
I love your cabinets. I have a big one in my dining room as well, it houses all my vintage kitchenware and crockery etc :-)
I love your cupboard. We have one similar but not quite as pretty. And you are such a grandma--sneaking in the grandson that way!
Wow! It even has a flour sifter!
