Ruby Tuesday: Matryoshka Dolls

It's RUBY TUESDAY time again. Time to join in the REDNESS. Click on the RUBY and it will take you to the LIST. Sign up there, post your RED, then visit other blogs also posting RED.

"Chelsea" from Cow Parade (Harrisbug, Pennsylvania, 2004) is the cow-of-the-day for today because she has a pretty face painted on her back. The face reminds me of the face on a Matryoshka doll. When I was souvenir shopping in Alaska in 2006, I came upon a bargain. If you bought the book, you would also receive the nesting dolls. I knew my grand daughters would like them, so, of course, I bought them.

I decided to photograph the Matryoshka dolls with this old brass Russian tea pot. I think it adds some pizazz to the picture. Besides, I have got to find a worthwhile use for some of the brass I have around the house.

Happy Ruby Tuesday! Thanks for stopping by to see my red!

Dear Grandma Faith,
Wow, you like the Matryoshka Dolls as well.
Aren't they fascinating?
Serina (daughter) and I have several series. When I worked in Kindergartens, I would always try to convince the supervisor to buy a set. Children simply loved them.
Especially the little in the middle.
What a good idea for Ruby Tuesday.

Hi Grandma Faith. I like your red nesting dolls with the tea pot.
I will show Mrs. Jim but I don't think she will put her dolls with the Samovar she has.

I love those dolls. By the way, I have a lot of brass around my house, too, but mine is not so shiny as yours. Your photo just reminded me that I really need to find the time to polish my brass and copper things -- one of these days...

I love the cow and the dolls!
I think the brass certainly shows off the colors in the dolls - good choice.

Being a full-blooded Russian I'm very familiar with these fun nesting dolls. What a great bargain to get the doll when you bought the book. I've wanted to visit Alaska and see the Russian influence up there. I like the cow too! Have a great Tuesday...

I remember Matryoshkas and the tea pots vividly. I grew up in Czech during communism so they were pretty "popular" back then :o)

Hi Faith!
Chelsea is a fine specimen for Ruby Tuesday as are your other cows. She's a nice treasure from your trip.

I don't have Matryoshka dolls but find them so fascinating...and the brass too.

Thank you for sharing all your lovelies on Ruby Tuesday.

Thank you for my award too.*hugs*. I'm going to pick it up as soon as I can figure out how to post it again. Thank you for thinking about me.

Have a lovely day.
Judi
ps I noticed I didn't have you on my blogroll..you're there now. See you again.

The cow reminds me of one I saw used in a culinary salon exhibit *ahem* years ago. Except that one was edible. (Probaby break several teeth trying but you could eat it. (That's one of the rules of a culinary salon... everything you use has to be edible.)

Nice "poupées gigognes" in French.
The origine of "gigogne' is not sure it could be "cigogne" (stork) or gigoter (to wriggle).

Did you do the Alaska Cruise - land and sea? We did that and loved it. Thanks for dropping by my blog - like I said about LOVING FRANK - liked the book but I couldn't "like" the people. PAM
